Backstreet Boys

Atlanta, Georgia

February 19, 2000 at the Georgia Dome

Wow!  What a SHOW!  The guys were just awesome tonight.  Liz and I had floor seats on the same side we were in Nashville but this time only 13 rows from the stage.  Cool!

Our adventure begins on Saturday morning.  We got up and headed to Atlanta.  The directions to the Omni (where we were staying) had us going thru the bowels of the Georgia Dome and as we drove past the service entrance there we saw a limo!  Liz and I got to the hotel, which was right next to the Dome, about 2:30 but had to get checked in.  We called Tammie, my new bud from the newsgroup, and headed back down to where we saw the limo.  It was gone by the time we got there but some fans were still hanging out.  Tammie came and found us there.  Not long after we got there, a couple tour buses showed up and the security let them into the unloading area that had been blocked off.  These 2 buses were the band's buses.  We saw Louis, Dennis, and Guy get off and Bubba showed up in a van a few minutes later.

This is one of the buses coming in.

Dennis!

Then, the boys' bus came in from the other direction.  We saw AJ, Kevin, Howie, and Nick get off the bus and they waved to us.  If Brian got off he flew inside because I did not see him.  NONE of these pics turned out but I have memories!

Then, the 3 of us walked back up to the Food Court in the CNN Center as it was chilly outside with the wind blowing.  We met up there with some other fans that Tammie had met from the last Atlanta show and hung out in front of McDonald's people watching.

About 5:45pm we headed to the Dome.  They had the gates open and were letting people in when we got there.  YAH!  We headed down to our seats and right past Tammie's section we saw a girl carrying a video camera.  Tammie and I both stopped and looked at each other.  It was Mandy, Nick's girlfriend.  She had gone over in Tammie's section and was taping some fans.  Tammie decided to go over and say "Hi!" (you go girl!) and Mandy was really nice.  Tammie talked her into taking her disposable camera back and getting a couple shots of someone and bringing it back to us but we had to go get the new comic book that Nick helped write the story for.  So we got to see Mandy a couple more times, and I got introduced to her and showed her that I got a comic book too.  Cool.  Several fans came up while we were with her and were like, "Are you someone important? Who are You?"  We were like, "Oh she does their hair..." And she's like, "Yeah, I do the dancers hair."  THAT was just TOO funny.  But she was really nice so we're Mandy supporters now.

We got the comic book, and some food and went over to our seats for a little bit.  I took some pics that did turn out here.

The top pic is one of those light things and the bottom one is the harnesses waiting for the boys.  We were right by the "black box".

The opening act this time was the Jungle Brothers and they did a 15 minute set.  Sometime about 8:30 or after, Brian's fiancee, LeighAnne, walked by us with her family (she's from Georgia).

The guys finally came on about 9pm.  It was the largest crowd for an event in the Dome, beating even the SuperBowl!  And, it was also the largest crowd that the Boys have ever played to.  So we were there for a record setting night!  Kev and Brian's families were also there.

They did the set from the Fall Tour but there were a few changes, mostly clothes.  The pink suits are gone, replaced with dark grey pinstripes (MUCH better!).  The outfits for the last 2 songs also changed.  I took 6 rolls of 800 asa film but unfortunately very few turned out.  I cannot tell ya how mad I am about that.  I know I have memories but still.  I wanted my pics.  So, here are the ones that I could stand for anyone to see.  And these aren't great.  :-(

This is the best one - surfing in.  Nick's up front and Brian's the other one.

Nick on the big screen.

This is Kevin on the big screen with his mother/daughter pair for "Perfect Fan".  The little girl had on this sweatshirt that said "I like AJ, Brian, Howie and Kevin but..." and then on the back "I LOVE NICK".  We had seen her while we were in the Food Court earlier and cheered for her when we saw her up there with Kevin.  She was so cute.

The new suits with the lavendar vests.  VERY nice.

Nick.

this is AJ, Nick, Howie and Brian during "Back to your Heart" taken off the big screen coz they were still on the other side of the stage.

And, this is the last shot, during "I Want It That Way".  There would be more shots of this song but for some reason my camera and the film decided to argue and it started rewinding with 3 shots to go.  AJ's on the left with the hat, Brian, Nick (with his back to us), Kevin and then Howie who had on a Thrashers (?) hockey jersey with "Dorough" on the back.

Except for the fact that the pics are pretty much a waste, I had an awesome time but will probably not sit on the floor again.  But in the Dome, that was the only place to be.

Oh, and staying at the Omni was a really good idea.  It was walking distance from the Dome so we didn't have to deal with traffic or Marta.

And we love Nick's new haircut!!!
